COMPETITION FORMAT & INFORMATION

All competitions are mixed gender.

Tees – Blue (Winter Period).

Mats are compulsory on fairway and first cut of rough.

Handicap limits: In summer our standard limit for club competition playing handicaps are gents (white tees) 28 and ladies (green tees) 36.  These correspond to handicap indexes of gents – 23.6 and ladies – 32.2. Using these same handicap index limits off the blue course give gents a playing handicap of 20 and ladies 34. This is with a handicap allowance of 95% (used for individual stroke play and stableford).  Handicap allowances will be stipulated for each individual competition.

When entering scores on the terminal, if a person or a team does not score at an individual hole it is imperative that an “X” is marked in the box.  Do not leave any of the score entry boxes blank!

Twos: if players are playing their individual ball and get a two the twos payout will go to that individual. Whereas if a Team get a two with a shared ball (two ball foursomes, greensomes or scramble etc) payout will go to the team.  If the format of the competition changes over the 18 holes and one element has a shared ball, pay-out for all twos will go to the team.

Winter Stableford – Eclectic.

Roll up competition, available every day of the winter season.

On Saturday and Sunday it can be played in combination with other competition if formats are compatible or if not compatible can be played by itself.

Only allowed to submit two scores in any week, which runs Monday to Sunday. If entered more than two in any one week, all rounds played that week will be excluded from the eclectic.

Any rounds played with winter greens in use will be excluded from the eclectic.

Entry fee is £1 per round. Whole of entry fee is added to prize fund for the prize winners at the end of the winter season.  Therefore, there are no prizes for individual rounds.

Two prize divisions scratch and handicap with three prizes per division.

Handicap allowance is 50% from the blue tees.

Jocky MacKintosh Memorial Trophy.

Roll up competition on Saturday or Sunday. Occur every two weeks and alternate between Saturday and Sunday.

Strokeplay.

Entry fee will be £5 per round.  £1 to the club, £1 to season ending places, £1 to the round twos, £2 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winner, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Handicap allowance 95% off blue tees.

Season points will be dictated by number of entries:

Less than 15 Players: 3 places with 3, 2 & 1 points awarded.

15-25 Players: 4 places with 4, 3, 2 & 1 points awarded.

26-40 Players: 5 places with 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points awarded.

>40 Players: 6 places with 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1 points awarded.

End of season points will have three places splitting the whole winter fund 50%, 30% and 20%.

Hogg Cup.

Roll up competition on Saturday or Sunday. Occur every two weeks and alternate between Saturday and Sunday.

Stableford.

Handicap allowance 95%.

Entry fee will be £5 per round.  £1 to the club, £1 to season ending places, £1 to the round twos, £2 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winner, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Season points will be dictated by number of entries:

AMAM – 4 Person Team.

Teams of four

Strokeplay

Handicap allowance 100%. Best three scores on each hole.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team of four, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Rumble – Various Formats.

Teams of three or four – will be specified for each competition.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Course split into three sets of six holes: 1-6, 7-12 and 13-18.

Different format of competition in each of the three sets of six holes, for example it could be set up as:

Holes 1-6 best one nett of three person team

Holes 7-12 best two nett

Holes 13-18 scramble so only one score for the team

Again, the specific format for each competition will be clearly set out.

Handicap allowance will be set for each set of six holes depending on what format those holes take.  When logging into the terminal, it will simply show what are the playing handicaps for the first set of six holes.  However, when scores are entered on the terminal it will handle the different allowances for each set of six holes and if one set is a scramble it will only ask for one score.

4BBB – Two Person Teams.

Two person teams.  Two balls in play.  Best nett from the pair on each hole.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Handicap allowance will be85%.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place. 

Foursomes – Two Person Teams.

Two person teams.  One ball in play.  Player one tees off odd hole numbers then alternate shots.  Player two tees off even hole numbers then alternate shots. Best nett from the pair on each hole.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Handicap allowance will be 50% of combined team handicap.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Greensomes – Two Person Teams

Two person teams.  Both players drive and then select which drive to use.  Then play alternate shots from there until ball is holed.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Handicap allowance will be 60% of lower handicap plus 40% of the higher handicap.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Bogey Medal.

Individual stableford type of competition.

Points awarded in relation to nett score against par:

Double bogey or worse -1

Bogey -1

Par 0

Birdie 1

Eagle or better 1

Handicap allowance 95%.

3 Ball Alliance.

Teams of three. Best two nett scores on each hole.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Handicap allowance 85%.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winner, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Texas Scramble.

Teams of three or four – will be specified for each competition.

All drive and then pick the best drive.  All play second shot from there.   Continue until ball is holed.  Hole is then over.

Handicap allowance will be 10% of combined course handicaps capped at 6 for the team.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Florida Scramble.

Teams of three or four – will be specified for each competition.

All drive and then pick the best drive.  The player whose previous shot is used does not play the next shot.  So, for a team of four: all four drive, only three play second and subsequent shots.  Continue until ball is holed.  Hole is then over.

Handicap allowance will be 10% of combined course handicaps capped at 6 for the team.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

ChaChaCha.

Teams of four.

Could be stableford or strokeplay – will be specified for each competition.

Best single nett score hole 1, best two nett scores hole 2, best three nett scores hole 3, then repeat.

Handicap allowance will be 90%.

Entry fee will be £5 per round per person.  £1 to the club, £1.50 to the round twos, £2.50 to the round sweep. Sweep will be nett competition and split 50% to winning team, 30% second place and 20% to third place.

Yellow Ball.

Teams of three or four – will be specified for each competition. Each player plays their own ball.

Whoever plays the yellow ball their score counts plus best nett. So, two scores for each hole.

For teams of three: yellow ball is player 1 over holes 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 & 16; player 2 over holes 2, 5, 8,11 14& 17; player 3 over holes  3, 6, 9, 12, 15 & 18

Handicap allowance will be 90%.
