INFORMATION ON THE GENTS SENIOR GOLF GROUP
The 55+ Seniors group was formed in October 1985 and is for any male member of sound mind Nairn Dunbar Golf Club who is aged 55 years and over, who can approximate a golf swing and navigate around a golf course in daylight hours and then find their way to the bar is almost always made most welcome (just kidding, always welcome of course).
Members of the group may also bring (drag) a guest or guests aged 55+ on any particular day.
The group currently has 80 members and meets on a Thursday in the main lounge at 9am with the daily draw made at 9.30 with normally about 40 members turning up to play.
It costs £10 to join the group and each week £1 to play and £1 for the raffle. These monies go towards trophy engraving and inter club matches.
Refreshments are usually enjoyed both before, sometimes during and always after the game.
If you would like to join the young codgers, old gits and the coffin dodgers then you are of course most welcome to come along and enjoy the fun on Thursdays.
Friendly Inter Club matches are held home and away against the following local clubs during the golf season:
Inverness.
Tain.
Fortrose.
Hopeman.
Kings.
Elgin.
Nairn.
Bi-Annually – either Home or Away:
Royal Dornoch.
Boat of Garten.
Grantown on Spey.
In addition there are Six Club Trophies played for during the season.
There is also a very popular away day to Hopeman in May.
The golf season ends with the very serious and definitely not too posh Seniors “Christmas Bash”, although Xmas jumpers are recommended. Weather permitting there is usually Sub Zero Golf, followed by indoor competitions, a quiz and dinner and usually a few drinks.
