COURSE IS CLOSED DUE TO ICE & FLOODING

Since the start of 2025, the course has suffered badly with heavy rains, followed by lots of snow and finally by a big freeze and with the thaw a period of potentially severe flooding. Shown below are some images of the impact to the course during this time, which has unfortunately resulted in an unavoidable and extended closure for the golf course due to ground conditions.

The drainage ditches on the course were virtually overwhelmed by the intensity, volume and the duration of the rainfall falling on the course in early January. This was quickly followed by snow and below freezing temperatures overnight.

The initial wet and cold period was then followed by a period of further snowfall and severe overnight freezing which quickly lead to artic type conditions with a very heavy build up of ice on the already frozen areas of the course.

Once the warmer weather arrives the course will thaw out and whilst that will inevitably result in some flooding the course will of course eventually return to a condition suitable for golf to resume, albeit under the possibility of further winter conditions.

The greenkeeping team is naturally limited in the amount of immediate on course activity they can undertake when the conditions are this extreme but they are always looking for ways to help improve the courses ability to drain as quickly and efficiently as it can after any flooding.

Two weeks into January the course conditions are now finally returning closer to normal for this time of year.

Its expected that the floodwaters will recede in the next few days and the course will return to its normal playing state.

Greener conditions finally returning to the course after a major rise in temperature.
