Nairn Dunbar Golf Club has opened a new chapter in its 122-year history with the appointment of the club’s first female vice-captain.
Hazel Clark was unanimously voted into the post at the club’s annual general meeting this week (Tuesday 7th December).
Commenting on the historic appointment, newly-appointed club captain Shaun Smith said: “I am delighted to have Hazel as my vice-captain. She brings with her a wealth of experience in financial management, leadership management, developing people and in service improvement. I know that Hazel will make a very positive contribution to our club utilising her wide knowledge and experience.”
Hazel has been at Cantraybridge College since 2015 and CEO from 2018 where her diverse role at the rural skills training establishment has a major focus on developing business and financial management. She has also enjoyed an extensive career as a senior manager in banking, working in mortgage lending, business banking and latterly as an HR business partner.
Commenting on her new appointment, Hazel said: “I feel very honoured and privileged to be the first female vice-captain of Nairn Dunbar Golf Club. This is a positive step forward for a club that shows it is leading the field in equality and diversity. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and working with the committee and staff at this excellent championship golf club.”
Shaun added: “Nairn Dunbar has rightly earned the reputation of the ‘friendly Club’ and it is our aim to continue to offer an unrivalled golfing experience for people of all ages and abilities – from those taking up the game, to those who have enjoyed golf for some time.”
